Premier Grade Bring Home The Flag

Victory Snatched From The Jaws Of Defeat

In a thrilling end to a tough hard season the Wyndham Cricket Club First Eleven Team have answered the critics by coming from behind to snatch a famous victory, in the W.S.U.C.C.A. Premier Grade Grand Final.

Chasing a very moderate 177, the top order capitualted to leave the team in turmoil at 4 for 40. A middle order partnership between Scott (Fun Police) Miles and Andrew (Cakie) Caithness resurrected things a little to get us to 6 for 100 odd, but still a long way from the target.

For only the 3rd time all season the lower order were asked to get us over the line and they were right up for the challenge. A 50 odd run, 8th wicket partnership stole Victory from a very, very Gallant Barkly St, who had been in total control all day.

The partnership between John (Linda) Conte & Matt (Clem) Bennett was a clear indication of what many in the club already knew and that was that the side had great depth and great character.

Although there were many who suggested that the team was soft and lacked character, it was great to see that the team as a whole answered the knockers. It was also pleasing to hear that some of the bigger doubters around the comp lost a few of their hard earned dollars on the result. To those individuals, eat shit and die.

It is worth mentioning that this team has been working harder than most over the past few seasons and with that hard work comes results. With this victory comes a great self belief and special bond that could drive this team on for a few more seasons to come.

It's funny how the taste of success can make individuals want to sample it more and more often .............Look out doubters !!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to the Captain/Coach - Scott Miles and his Match Committee for a job well done.

A detailed match report will be available soon

The Committee of the Wyndham Cricket Club, wish to congratulate all of the players for a wonderful season.
