Wayne Jones is a current day player who can best be described as the heart and soul of Wyndham Cricket Club. Unquestionably our greatest clubman, he has a love for the club that defies description.

Not only a great team man, but a genuine player, with a great heart and a desire to get the job done. He has been an opening batsmen in more recent times but a little while ago things were different.

A dashing middle middle order batsmen, swing bowler and sensational cover fieldsmen, who could always be relied on to play his part. These attributes earned Wayne a position in the first ever premiership team, back in season 1978/79.

Although Wayne is getting to the later stages of his career, he continues to perform well, and not so long ago, entered the club record books, when he joined with fellow "Club Legend" Mark Robinson in a stand of 214 for the first wicket.

As far as having the respect of other players and clubmen, Wayne is without peer. One of life's true gentlemen. He has served on committee for sometime and is always willing to assist with the most meaningless tasks.

He is one of those blokes, which every club needs to be successful. But it would be tragic to think of Wayne only as a "Clubmen". It must be remembered that he was an outstanding talent and an excellent player.

A man with a great heart and a great contributor to the Wyndham Cricket Club.
